Kampire is the talent to emerge from East Africa’s flourishing electronic music scene. Born and raised in Kampala, the Ugandan DJ and writer is a core member of the Nyege Nyege Tapes collective whose sets explore the intersection of classical East African musics like Lingala and soukous and Western electronic music. As she gears up for the Nyege Nyege Tapes showcase at Rewire 2019,Kampire turns in anecstatic mix of global club sounds that jumps from up-and-coming African artists like Slikback and U-ZET andlike-minded producers from across the globe, including Bristol’s Dismantle and Brooklyn’s Epic B.
