With just three weeks to go, we turn our attention to the final additions to the Rewire 2017 programme.
We’re excited to finalize the 2017 lineup with the addition of an extensive programme of talks, workshops, masterclasses and screenings, as well as 10 new festival artists.
NEW ARTIST ADDITIONS
Newly confirmed artists for Rewire 2017 are: Kassem Mosse, N.M.O., Pussy Mothers, CAO, Dazion, Nimbus 3000, Baiba Yurkevich,Anni Nöps,Das Ensemble Ohne Eigenschaften,.
Leading the pack of new artist confirmations is enigmatic German producer and Workshop affiliate Kassem Mosse. Having cultivated a reputation for creating some of the least conventional house and techno sounds out there, Kassem Mosse adds yet another gripping live hardware set to a Saturday night club programme that already includes Helena Hauff, Aurora Halal, SHXCXCHCXSH and SØS Gunver Ryberg.Club Tickets (€14) for the Saturday club night (valid from 23:45) of Rewire 2017. Tickets, including Festival passes (€65) and Day tickets (€27.50) can be purchased through rewirefestival.nl/tickets.
Also confirmed for the Saturday programme are Scottish-Australian cosmic disco duo Pussy Mothers, who recently released their debut EP via hallowed Glasgow label Optimo Music, the ‘blackened amazonic techno’ of Peruvian producer CAO, the upbeat, afro-tinged productions of The Hague’s Dazion, electro-pop oddball Nimbus 3000and experimental vocalistBaiba Yurkevich. Onthe Friday aerobatic club renegades N.M.O., as well as rising Estonian-born, The Hague-based DJ will be performing. On Sunday Studio LOOS will presentDas Ensemble Ohne Eigenschaften and Willem Marijs + Gert Jan Prins + Peter van Bergen.
TALKS, WORKSHOPS AND MORE
The Sound of Story:An Exploration of Sound and Music in Games
Co-produced with Lighthouse, The Sound of Story returns with a special video games edition. Presenting leading music and sound practitioners working in the indie and AAA sectors, The Sound of Story explores topics such as writing interactive scores, designing sound for immersive environments and working with procedural audio. It comprises three talks and a panel discussion with John Broomhall, Adele Cutting, David Housden and SØS Gunver Rybergand a masterclass in designing sound for games with ‘No Man’s Sky’ composerPaul Weir.
New Emergences:Poetry, Presence and Empowerment
The Hague-based lecture series New Emergences present a panel discussion with festival artists AGF, Kubra Khademi and Moor Mother, discussing issues based on their embodied experience of engendering poetry with activism.
RA Exchange: Forest Swords
RA staff writer Holly Dicker will be speaking to Forest Swordsabout the evolution of his project, influences and creative processes, as well as his long-awaited new album.

Rewire and West present the fourth edition of Musical Material, this time with Swiss composer François J. Bonnet. Following his live performance as Kassel Jaeger, François J. Bonnet explores the philosophies of sound and listening laid out in his new book, The Order of Sounds.
RE:VIVE: Sample The City (Workshop)
The RE:VIVE Initiative and The Netherlands Institute for Sound host Sample the City, an extensive workshop programme that gives 15 producers exclusive access to unique archival films and recordings, and challenges them to turn the forgotten sounds and images of The Hague into progressive new musical works.
Limited to a small number of participants, you are obliged to apply to attend. Deadline for the application is 24 March, and you will be informed of the decision by 25 March. You can apply via the linkedform.
An introduction to TouchDesigner(Workshop)
Studio Loos present An introduction to TouchDesigner, a workshop with Darien Brito introducing participants to the creation of computer graphics and showing them how to combine sound, visuals and lights in a live or fixed performance.
Paul Weir: Designing the Sound for No Man’s Sky(Masterclass)
On Sunday, Paul Weir’s The Sound of Storymasterclass is accompanied by the fourth edition of Musical Material. For this festival edition of our recurring Sunday series with West Den Haag, we’ve invited Rewire 2017 artist Kassel Jaeger aka François J. Bonnet. The Swiss composer, visual artist and author will sit down Gabriel Paiuk to aboutthe philosophies of sound and listening laid out in his new book,The Order of Sounds: A Sonorous Archipelago.
