Rewire’s film programme intersects with and ponders upon the festival’s overarching themes of staging sound, further listening, times and territories, and instrumental ecologies – with a particular focus this year around the latter two themes. The programme returns to Filmhuis Den Haag for daily screenings of films which touch on urgent ideas around ecologies, tradition, and sounding.
Gianluca De Serio and Massimiliano De Serio's Canone effimero is a delicate documentary that focuses on the craftsmanship of a type of Calabrian bagpipe; and Krakatoa by Carlos Casas is a sonic investigation into eruptions from the so-named volcano, linking two generations of accounts through stunning abstract vocals. These are just a couple of the seven films joining the programme. Read further about each and every film that will be screened at Rewire 2026 below.
