While the festival only happens for one weekend every April, Rewire's Outreach and Education initiatives run throughout the year. Learn below about two events happening this summer.
First up, this weekend, the Rewire Music Lab comes to De Bruiserij festival on 28 June. De Bruiserij is a festival which hosts and brings together accessible art courses in The Hague in one place. The Rewire Music Lab is an ongoing workshop where participants are introduced to music and sound in an accessible and playful way. The program is specifically designed for people with disabilities and takes place in an enclosed space to limit external stimuli for both participants and other festival visitors. The workshop consists of two parallel routes: one for children and one for adults. Both routes last approximately 20–30 minutes and can be completed at one's own pace. The routes are designed as adventures of discovery, where participants explore various sound stations step by step. The workshop is continuously accessible between 13:30 and 17:00.
Then, later this summer, Rewire collaborates with Zuiderpark theater to present a new composition by Ezequiel Menalled in the new installation design of the Russsthut, a permanent installation in the Zuiderpark Theater. This project focuses on storytelling through sound, inviting children to create and present their own stories inspired by non-verbal soundscapes and visual environments. It focuses around the central question: How can sound (without spoken language) inspire children to invent and tell stories, and how can sound and text be combined into a presentation or performance? It is accessible Monday, 20 July–Thursday, 27 August as part of Vakantiepark 2026.
