15 Apr 2015

A free day programme takes place on Saturday 2 May at Korzo, Idazaal and the Old Catholic Church. This year we invite you to join one of our workshops. Ableton Live + Push (beginners and advanced) and Voice Manipulation in SuperCollider. Alongside concerts from Mbongwana Star, Dandana, FilosofischeStilte and Chris Corsano & Mette Rasmussen, there are Ableton and SuperCollider workshops, and artist talks hoted by The Wire.

Workshop Ableton Live + Push
Which musician did not grow up with it? Without this revolutionary software, first released in 2001, live electronic music would look very different, or would maybe not exist at all. During the Saturday afternoon programme of Rewire you can discover Ableton Live for yourself, as well as Push, the new controller of Ableton. This years theme is the human voice.

Voice Manipulation in SuperColliderIn popular music these days its hard to find a voice recording that hasn’t been manipulated in some way. Auto-tune technologies can turn anyone into a bonafide singer. Yet there is so much more that can be done to change the sonic character of voices. Tijs Ham (STEIM) is a sound artist and live coder and will demonstrate how to write computer programs that alter the human voice. Moving from simple delays to radical granular effects, you will get a glimpse of the huge capabilities of sound manipulation in the audio programming language SuperCollider.

A maximum of 30 people can participate in each workshop!

12:30 – 14:30 Ableton Live + Push Advanced (Idazaal)
15:00 – 17:00 Ableton Live + Push Beginners (Idazaal)
15:00 – 16:45 Voice Manipulation in SuperCollider (Korzo)

The entrance for the workshops is free, but a registration is required. Sign up here:http://bit.ly/1FK2BzQ
