Following a sold-out festival edition in April, Rewire will be back on 11 June with the next edition of the year-round concert series Rewire x Korzo.
This edition includes the earlier announced performance by Berlin-based electronic musician Lotic that couldn’t go through due to COVID restrictions. Lotic is now finally returning to Rewire to present an exclusive live show based around her album Water, accompanied by a trio of horn players. In addition, the electronic pop icon Jessy Lanza is performing a colourful and high energy set with material from her latest album All the Time. Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Lotic has been fortifying her forceful sound and dominating the Berlin electronic music scene for nearly a decade. On her second album Water, released on Houndstooth, she says: “this is the record I always wanted to write. This feels like my arrival as an artist.” Within Water, Lotic’s compositions curve around the sub bass of an 808, with vibrations and hums superseding clarity and separation. Drums are softened to a powdery warmth, and each chapter unfolds as a symphonic sound poem. Heartful depictions of love relationships to others and the self, to ancestry and identity, are marked by stunning new expressions of ecstatic voices. After impressing at Rewire 2019, Lotic returns to The Hague for Rewire x Korzo to present Water live, accompanied by a trio of horn players. Canadian vocalist and producer Jessy Lanza has been uplifting crowds with her energised, jazzed up electro compositions since her 2013 debut Pull My Hair Back. Follow-up Oh No reinforced her reputation as one of the brightest innovators of contemporary pop and R&B. During this edition of Rewire x Korzo, Lanza will mostly perform material from her latest album All the Time, a triumphant joyride through Lanza’s sound world, combining her signature footwork-paced ballads with glittering synth work and unique vocal manipulations. Thanks to her captivating stage presence and warm live sound, a Jessy Lanza show inevitably becomes a wholesome, bubbling and light-hearted concert experience to emote with and dance to.
