Lotic presents ‘Water’

Born and raised in Houston, Texas, Lotic has been fortifying her forceful sound and dominating the Berlin electronic music scene for nearly a decade. On her forthcoming second album ‘Water’, due to be released on 29 October, she says “This is the record I always wanted to write. This feels like my arrival as an artist.” Within Water, Lotic’s compositions curve around the sub bass of an 808, with vibrations and hums superseding clarity and separation. Drums are softened to a powdery warmth, and each chapter unfolds as a symphonic sound poem. Heartful depictions of love relationships to others and the self, to ancestry and identity, are marked by stunning new expressions of ecstatic voices. After impressing at Rewire 2019, Lotic returns to The Hague for Rewire x Korzo  to present ‘Water’ live, accompanied by a trio of horn players. Don’t miss the chance to catch the exclusive Dutch debut of this stunning new live show.

Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy

German trio Carl Gari (Jonas Yamer, Till Funke and Jonas Friedlich) and the Egyptian singer and trumpeter Abdullah Miniawy have been working together for the last five years, melding sobering electronic soundscapes with poetic lyrics reflecting the mood of modern day Egypt. Their 2020 release on AD93 (formerly Whities) centres around the poem in ‘B’aj بعاج’, featuring Miniawy as the protagonist who has jumped from the 8th floor of a building in Cairo and describing scenes of Egyptian society as he falls. It’s a powerful conceit and evocative sonic portrait of Egyptians living under the brutal oppression of the Al-Sisi regime. Following their captivating recorded performance for the Rewire 2021 - online edition in May, Carl Gari & Abdullah Miniawy perform live in The Hague as part of Rewire x Korzo.
