Stockholm-based trio Tape combine pop, minimalism and experimentation through acoustic instruments, electronics and field recordings. The result is exceptionally beautiful, warm post-rock. Tape have made intriguing and challenging records for over a decade. The trio (brothers Andreas and Johan Berthling, and Tomas Hallonsten) have just released their sixth album, Casino in August 2014; the follow up to 2011’s Revelationes. According to the band, the latest release continues to chart a steady, self-sufficient course. “The music of Tape still continues its growth, in its own way, separated from the rest of the world in many ways.”
You can watch Craps from the new album Casino, here.
Support act: Trigg & Gusset
In 2012 Trigg (Bart Knol) began working with Erik van Geer (Gusset). Together they made the album Legacy of the Witty which was released on Preserved Sound. The album contains of 10 slow-jazz/doomjazz tracks with dark electronic sounds and lush melodies played by Erik on tenor-saxophone and bass-clarinet.
This year West is working withthe Volkspaleis (People’s Palace, 18 Oct – 16 Nov) in the Zuiderstrandtheater in Scheveningen, The Hague. In both scale and its unique location, this brand new theatre by the sea highlights “the human experience” in relation to its surroundings. This is seen again in the new monumental installation, “One Mind In A Million Heads” by Konrad Smoleński, made in collaboration with choreographer Noa Shadur. Visual artist Smoleński achieved international recognition through his work at the Polish pavilion of the Venice Biennale, 2013.
