Rewire 2023's free festival programme

02 Apr 2023

Because we believe that music should be accessible to anyone, we’re hosting several free activities during Rewire 2023. Our festival’s free programme consists of musical performances, workshops, soundwalks and art installations. In addition, find out about our discounts for students and residents of The Hague who have less to spend.

The full Rewire 2022 context programme
Situated around its music and performance line-up, Rewire’s context programme provides a space for reflection and to bring the various practices of artists into conversation with one another. Through workshops, conversations, listening sessions and assemblies, the Instrumental Ecologies track will tune into entangled environments and sound technologies. The full Rewire 2023 context programme is free for everyone to attend.

Proximity Music: Visceral Acts
With their 3-day running free exhibition, Proximity Music: Visceral Acts invites audiences to engage playfully with mind and body and seeks to connect music, architecture, technology, ritual, and play through physical experiences engaging with all senses. All Proximity Music: Visceral Acts activities are free for everyone to attend.

Rewire x Cahartt WIP instore
On the Saturday afternoon of Rewire 2023, we return to our favourite record store 3345 to host an in-store event in collaboration with Carhartt WIP. The freely accessible event bills none less than Bitter BabeNazarNoise Diva & Zoë Mc Pherson.

Soundwalk
In addition, on Saturday 8 and Sunday 9 April, everyone will have the opportunity to participate in Soundwalk: Beyond forgotten sounds, by Margherita Brillada, free of charge. In a world where the tendency is not to listen to our urban soundscape, the sound walk Beyond forgotten sounds invites us to listen together through the streets of The Hague.

Tour for Ukrainian refugees
On Saturday 8 April, we will organise a Rewire tour for Ukrainian refugees, offering a specially selected program of the Rewire festival featuring art, music and short performances. The tour will be given in the Ukrainian language and functions as a way for people to get to know The Hague and meet like-minded people.

Centrale Bibliotheek Den Haag
In addition to the programme above, Rewire is also hosting workshop and performance by Musikarbeiter at Centrale Bibliotheek. Inspired by the philosophy of innovators and pioneers of electronic music Kraftwerk, this workshop invites participants of all ages to become a Musikarbeiter (music worker). The workshop is suitable for children 7 years and older and has no set duration (continuously available during open hours).

This year we collaborated with Ooievaarspas to enable residents of The Hague, Leidschendam-Voorburg, and Rijswijk who have less to spend to visit Rewire for a heavily discounted price. All people in possession of an Ooievaarspas can make use of the discount. More information can be found on the website of Ooievaarspas.
