Rewire 2018 in reports

19 Apr 2018

Rewire 2018 is a wrap! The eighth edition brought us many musical highlights and again attracted more curious visitors from all over the world than before. We want to thank the artists, partners, volunteers and visitors for making it all happen. It’s now time to share the first reports.Find the overview below, more articles will be added to this page in the coming weeks.

“Rewire is uitgegroeid tot een van de meest toonaangevende festivals als het gaat om vooruitstrevende muziek, waarin bruggen geslagen worden tussen, ja, tussen wat eigenlijk niet.” – 3voor12

“This festival has a predilection for artists who are autonomous on stage, artists who toy with expectation with shows that – deliberately or not – split the discussion down the middle of what live music could be.” – Drowned in Sound

“Rewire has become a unique platform for diverse and underserved voices get the stage they deserve.” – Crack Magazine

“⭐⭐⭐⭐” – de Volkskrant

“Spannend en ontregelend⭐⭐⭐⭐– ” – NRC Handelsblad

“You know you’re at Rewire Festival when one minute you’re quietly listening to a monumental organ and wind ensemble in a Lutheran church, and the next all things unholy are offered (and consumed) on a strobe-lit dancefloor. It’s these unlikely combinations that make the annual, experimental festival such a standout event” – Glamcult

“The 2018 Rewire Festival succeeded in both entertainment and analysis. Primarily obeying an electronic art focus, with 1-bit works and machine drawings from Tristan Perich, and Kyle Dixon and Michael Stein’s acclaimed performance of the soundtrack to Stranger Things in the mist-soaked power-station venue Electricitieits-Fabriek, Rewire situates between the viscerally human and the systematically electronic.” – London Jazz News

“Om je op het avontuurlijke Rewire te vermaken moet je wat gewend zijn. Je moet niet raar opkijken van overstuur gillende saxofoons en kille horror-elektro gespeeld in verlaten fabriekspanden.” – OOR
