Listen: Glice delicately balance menace and beauty on CIELO

11 Dec 2017

The newest release by Amsterdam-based, lo-fi electronics duo Glice, the four tracks that make up CIELO are as beautiful as they are menacing.

Glice is the brainchild of Amsterdam-based musicians Ruben Braeken and Melle Kromhout. Conceived as an antidote to the song-based, pop-tendencies of their other musical outfits, Glice sees the pair dive into their love of abstract music with an assortment of lo-fi electronic equipment. Released via Narrominded just last month, new album CIELO is at once beautiful and menacing. Recorded in Berlin with Alexander Hacke of Einstürzende Neubauten fame, the four extended cuts expand beyond the noise and abstract electronics of their recent past to offer a deep musical journey that wades into the realms of post-classical and post-industrial music.

Listen to CIELO below and catch Glice performing a short, improvised set at Musical Material #5, this Sunday, 17 December at Het Nutshuis. Melle Kromhout will also take part in an artist talk with Gabriel Paiuk and moderated by Peter Bruyn.
