Rewire veterans Ron Morelli and Via App take on two standouts from Karen Gwyer’s latest album, Rembo.
Released last summer, Karen Gwyer‘s ‘Rembo’ saw the American-born producer channel her hypnotic and thickly melodic livesets into a propulsive full-length album that’s firmly embedded in the dark and sweaty corners of the night. In the hands of Rewire veterans and club music luminaries like L.I.E.S. boss Ron Morelli and Brooklyn underground staple Via App, that intention takes on a whole new dimension. Enlisted by Don’t Be Afraid for the remix edition – alongside contributions from E. Myers and M/R – the duo transform Karen Gwyer’s ‘Rembo’ standouts, “The Workers Are On Strike” and “He’s Been Teaching Me to Drive” into a pair of punishing techno monsters. Listen to Ron Morelli and Via App’s ‘Rembo Remixes’ below and catch Karen Gwyer live at Rewire 2018 on Saturday, 7 April.
Karen Gwyer’s ‘Rembo Remixes’ is out now via Don’t Be Afraid. Order your copy via her Bandcamp.
