Next to Rewire's annual festival and Rewire x Korzo nights, Rewire’s education programme runs throughout the entire year. Read below to find out more about two new workshops for children happening this autumn.

First up is the workshop Neon Songs, which will be part of Festival de Betovering, the annual international arts festival for children during the autumn half-term. From Saturday 17 October to Sunday 25 October, artists, theatre makers, and street performers from the Netherlands and abroad enchant children across The Hague during the festival.

In Neon Songs, Mariah Blue will help children design their own experimental sounds instruments using recycled materials, speakers, optical sensors, and battery-powered amplifiers. No prior knowledge of electronics or music is required. The workshop takes place on Saturday 24 October from 14:00–16:30 in De Graffiti Werkplaats in The Hague. It is suitable for children aged 10 and over. More information and tickets can be found here. 

Next up is the workshop Is a rock born or made?, led by Sara Pape. This workshop is also part of Festival De Betovering and will therefore also take place during the autumn half-term. In this workshop, children explore the nature of rocks with their own hands through hand-cutting foam rocks. Through headphones, they’ll hear the accompanying sounds of nature, and using suminagashi – a Japanese technique where ink floats on water – they’ll create prints that they’ll transform into their own story of the earth. Together, these prints will form a collaborative work of art. 

The workshop lasts approximately 75 minutes and is suitable for children aged 6 and over. It takes place on Wednesday, 21 October and Thursday, 22 October, between 11:00–12:15 and 13:00–14:15. It is held at Theater Dakota in The Hague. For more information and to purchase tickets, click here.

This workshop, Is a rock born or made?, will also be featured in monthly kids' workshops organised by Nest, The Hague. You can join the workshop on 30 September, 28 October and 18 November from 13:30 until 15:00.
