At a stage of his career where many others might settle into a predictable flow, Daniel Lopatin, aka Oneohtrix Point Never, continues to burst the banks of expectation, flooding out and forming new tributaries of strange cybernetic sounds. November saw the release on the iconic Warp Records of his 11th studio album, the critically acclaimed Tranquilizer (2025). Ahead of his highly anticipated live A/V show with artist Freeka Tet at Rewire 2026, we're pleased to announce a special giveaway, in collaboration with Warp Records, of three copies of Tranquilizer on vinyl.
From soft synthesizer swells and ambient strings to sweltering percussive builds and bursts of clattering maximalism, Lopatin's music remains a contested site of both sensitive storytelling and chaotic playfulness. A true artisan of worldbuilding through sound and of playing with overlooked and forgotten sonic materials, for Tranquilizer, Lopatin quite literally assembled the music from the wreckage of commercial sample CDs, salvaged from the Internet Archive. As with much of his work, he draws humanity out from these otherwise innocuous sources of mellotron muzak, warbly melody, and chorus-drenched guitar.
Participate in the giveaway by sending an email to yara@rewirefestival.nl with “OPN” in the subject line, and your name and full address in the email. Winners will be drawn at random from all submissions. Entry is possible until midnight on Sunday, 22 February.
