How do I travel back towards Amsterdam and Utrecht at night?

Due to an incident earlier this week, it is expected that this weekend there will be no night trains running between Den Haag and Leiden, in the direction of Amsterdam and Utrecht. From Leiden the night train to Amsterdam and Utrecht resumes normal service.

Therefore, Rewire is offering a night bus from Den Haag Central Station to Leiden Centraal, connecting with the night train in the direction of Amsterdam and Utrecht.

The bus departs from Den Haag Centraal Station (Bus Platform) at:

  • Friday night 01.45 (Saturday morning)
  • Saturday night 01.45 (Sunday morning)

This service costs €5 including service & transaction costs. Order your shuttle bus ticket here

During the day The Hague is still very easy to reach from Amsterdam & Utrecht. The extra travel time is between 15 and 30 minutes. Before departure, make sure you plan your trip via NS.nl, for the best possible train journey.

Travel & Acommodation

Connectivity: The Hague and other Dutch cities

Trains run throughout the day to Den Haag Central Station and/or Den Haag Holland Spoor. After midnight, trains will only run every hour from Den Haag HS. This train will connect you to Amsterdam, Utrecht, Rotterdam, Leiden, and Schiphol.

Purchased train tickets are valid from 0.00 AM on the travel date until 04.00 AM on the following morning. To travel with NS (the Dutch Railways) you can either buy a single-use chipcard or an OV-chipkaart at the ticket machine (note: the OV-chipkaart can also be used to travel with public transport in The Hague and most notably to hire a useful OV-bike at the NS station for just €4.45 a day).

Travel from Schiphol airport

The Schiphol train station is situated directly below the airport. To travel with NS (the Dutch Railways) you can either buy a single-use chipcard or an OV-chipkaart at the ticket machine (note: the OV-chipkaart – roughly translated as the ‘public transport chip-card’ – can also be used to travel with public transport in The Hague).

During the daytime, a direct train will leave towards either Den Haag Centraal or Den Haag Hollands Spoor (HS) about four times an hour. This train takes thirty minutes to bring you to The Hague. During the nighttime (after approximately 01:00 AM) you can easily take the night train, which will leave once an hour. This train will only bring you directly to Den Haag Hollands Spoor (HS).

To check the actual arrival and/or departure schedule, please visit the NS-website.

What is the best way to get around at the festival?

All our festival locations are located in the centre of The Hague and are easily accessible by foot. The Hague also offers a good infrastructure for cycling if you want to get to another location faster.

In case you want to get around by bike, we recommend renting an OV bike for just €4.45 per day. You will need a personal public transport chip card for this. Check out this page for more information.

Planning to visit us by car?

Please note that the city centre of The Hague is pedestrian-friendly and therefore car traffic is restricted in the city centre. In addition, parking is not cheap. From ecological grounds, and for your convenience, we advise our visitors to use the extensive and well-functioning public transport network.

If travelling by car is a necessity for you, these are the car parks with the best location:

Central to Festival: Grote Markt
Nearby Festival: Stadhuis
Nearby Centre: City Parking
