House Rules and Safety

null

Rewire is an international festival for adventurous music and sound. We foreground creative expression and experimental approaches to creation in what we programme, while seeking to provide a safe context for our visitors and staff to enjoy a weekend of inspiring and thought-provoking performances, talks, screenings, and conversations.

During the festival, we expect our visitors, venues, artists, crew members, volunteers, security, photographers, videographers and all other partners to follow the festival’s code of conduct.

While the festival’s various venues each have distinct house rules and codes of conduct, we wish to share overarching house rules for all of us to follow while visiting the festival.

House Rules

Respect one another. Rewire is a festival for many kinds of people with different outlooks, identities, and needs. If a disagreement occurs, please remain constructive and respectful while communicating with others (visitors, staff, etc.) at the festival. Rewire does not tolerate physical or aggressive behaviour towards other visitors, staff members, or volunteers.

Do not discriminate. Rewire festival does not tolerate hate speech or intimidation of any kind. This includes discrimination based on race, gender, sexuality, religion, nationality, economic background, education, or identity.

Honour others’ boundaries. Please seek direct, vocal consent before engaging in any physical or intimate contact with another person at the festival. Please remain mindful of yourself and those around you. Any unwanted physical, verbal, or sexual contact (including stalking or following) will not be tolerated. If someone requests that you cease pursuing contact with them, please respect that.

Age restrictions
There are no general age restrictions for the festival, except for two late-night venues. We recommend that children under 16 attend under parental or guardian supervision. Children up to and including 11 years old can enter free of charge when accompanied by a guardian with a valid festival pass. From age 12 onwards, a valid Rewire pass is required.

Please note that after 23:00, access to PAARD is restricted to visitors aged 18 and over. The late-night club programme at Laak is also strictly 18+.

Food & drinks
Drinks are available at most venues, and food is offered at The Grey Space in the Middle and the PAARD foyer. Please note that bringing your own food and drinks into the venues is generally not permitted.

Drugs & weapons
Drugs, weapons, and sharp objects are not permitted.

Pets
Pets are not allowed at the festival. If you use a service animal, please contact accessibility@rewirefestival.nl ahead of time and we will do our best to accommodate you.

Bags
All venues may carry out bag checks upon entry for safety reasons.

Alcohol
Alcohol is only served to visitors aged 18 and over.

Smoking
Smoking is not permitted inside venues, in accordance with Dutch law. It is only allowed in designated outdoor areas.

Photography & filming
Photography and filming are permitted, as long as no professional equipment is used (smartphones are allowed) and performances or other visitors are not disturbed. Please refrain from photographing other attendees and from using flash.

Rewire reserves the right to deny (further) access to visitors who break these rules.

Contact us during the festival

In need of assistance or do you feel unsafe? Seek out a member of staff at the bar or entrance of a venue.

For Rewire’s late-night club programme, floor angels are present in PAARD and The Grey Space in the Middle (Club Laak has their own floor angels as well). The team of floor angels are clearly marked in luminous red jackets and are there to help.

Contact us after the festival

We understand it is not always possible to report an incident in the moment itself. If you want to share your experience after the festival, please contact us via safety@rewirefestival.nl
