Crashing waves of grunge maximalism and layers of distorted riffs coalesce in the power-ambient work of Joshua Chuquimia Crampton. The California-born musician and artist, a member of the Great Pakajaqi Nation of Aymara People, has built a reputation as one of today’s most exciting experimental guitarists.
Ahead of his performance at Rewire 2026, Chuquimia Crampton was invited to curate a playlist featuring a selection of Andean sounds, reflecting the lineages, traditions, and influences that shape his practice.
Here is what he says about the playlist:
“For our participation in Rewire 2026 I was asked to create a playlist of Andean music close to my heart. I am calling this playlist ‘Vistas Sin Errores’ which means ‘Views Without Errors’ in Spanish. Featuring rhythms such as Salay, Huayño, Charrangueada, Sicureada, Psychedelic and more from various places in time. Mostly from Aymara culture but also from other Andean territories as well. I chose to compile a playlist of videos because of how important the visual elements are to the work of our people.”

Expanding on these themes, his new album Anata is set for release on 6 February via Puro Fantasía. Inspired by the Andean ceremony honoring Pachamama (Mother Earth) and the principle of reciprocity between humans and nature (Ayni), the album promises to explore these Andean ceremonial rituals through Chuquimia Crampton’s experimental approach and sonic lens. Fans can get a first glimpse of the album’s sound and energy through the lead single, "Ch’uwanchaña ~El Golpe Final~," which has already been released and sets the stage for what’s to come.
