As 2018 draws to a close, we’re revisiting a few our highlights from the past year, including the three mesmerizing live sessions recorded by VPRO Vrije Geluiden at Rewire 2018.
2018 was a bumper year at Rewire, one that was full of exciting new developments. In addition tohosting our most adventurous and expansive edition of Rewire festival to date, wading beyond the musical and into the theoretical with an intense and in-depth discourse programme, extending ourRewire x Korzo and Musical Material series, and teaming up with Norient and Schauspielhaus Zürich for a third series entitled Sonic Fiction, we also joined forces with VPRO to present Vrije Geluiden: Buiten Spelen at Rewire 2018.
Setting up shop in the stunning surroundings of the Nutshuis garden, the team behind VPRO Vrije Geluiden hosted alive sessionwith a Rewire 2018 artist on each of the festival mornings. Starting with South Korean multi-instrumentalist and pirimasterPark Jiha, and followed by intimate performances by The Hague-based saxophonist and composer Laura Agnusdei and Portland-based electroacoustic duo Golden Retriever. The sessions were absolutely spell-binding in person and continue to captivate each time we revisit them. Watch each of the performances below and keep an eye out for announcements regarding our Rewire 2019 collaboration.
