As Cucina Povera, Finish sound artist Maria Rossi utilises everyday encounters and field recordings to create poignant “found soundscapes”. Hear new music from her upcoming records for The Hague-based BAKK and home label Night School Records ahead of her performance on Sunday 5 April at Rewire 2020.
Following on from last year’s gorgeous ‘Zoom’, an album written using only an effects pedal and a Zoom H2N recorder, Rossi is set to release two new records this month: a split collaborative release with Haron for The Hague label BAKK, and ‘Tyyni’, Rossi’s next album for Night School Records.
Named after a Finnish word referring to still, serene weather, ‘Tyyni’ represents a more synthesised soundworld featuring Rossi’s voice once more at the centre. For BAKK, the Glasgow-based artist teams up with Dutch ambient musician Haron for the sixth edition of the label’s Plafond series, dedicated to music projects caught between the living room and the dance floor.
