Fusing the Sunday groove

Preview

For theRewire Sunday, we zero in on performing artists who seamlessly merge seemingly distinct musical territories into their own hybrid concoctions, stirring in ample doses of free-wheeling improvisation for good measure. Ranging from Jeff Mills & Tony Allen’s unity of expansive techno textures and pulsating live percussion to Jameszoo’s kaleidoscopic synthesis of avant-garde jazz, electronica and beat oddities, Rewire Sunday offers a melting pot of today’s most forward-thinking electronic, jazz and improvised sounds.

Jeff Mills & Tony Allen

A rare collaboration between two musical masters, the coming together of Detroit techno pioneer Jeff Mills and legendary afrobeat drummer Tony Allen promises a steamy mixture of Jeff Mills’ distinct Roland TR-909 explorations and Tony Allen’s revolutionary Nigerian jazz-pulses.
