Described as a form of "collaborative myth-making," this new audio-visual performance brings video artist Kalma together with the tribal bass duo WaqWaq Kingdom, made up of vocalist Kiki Hitomi and producer Shigeru Ishihara, aka DJ Scotch Egg – one half of Takkak Takkak, who performed an unforgettable concert at last year's edition. During this colourful and psychedelic A/V show, the trio build a virtual shrine to Amanogawa (the Milky Way), wherein Hitomi embodies a cyber shrine-maiden who acts as a guide between digital, galactic, and spiritual realms. In this cybernetic ritual, Kalma's visuals act as a means of translation between the flowing stars of the galaxy and the data streams that meander and morph the gullies of contemporary life. Through a bassy reimagining of ancient Japanese ceremonial music, Hitomi leads listeners with her distorted chanted mantras and empyrean dance while DJ Scotch Egg's earth-shattered Gagaku dubs and percussive summonings open up a portal between past and future, and between the immaterial places of cyberspace and myth.
