After the release of their much lauded album Kansai Bruises (2025), Valentina Magaletti & YPY carry their cybernetic improvised concoctions to Rewire. No stranger to the festival – having performed in many forms throughout the years, most recently with Holy Tongue and Moin – the versatile approach of drummer-composer and multi-instrumentalist Magaletti incorporates a spread of instruments and tools, including marimbas, contact microphones, found objects, and drum kits. YPY is a solo project led by Koshiro Hino, a musician known for his work with the bands bonanzas and goat (jp) – who performed at Rewire 2024. In their debut collaborative release, scrambling flurries of metallic sounds tremble and collapse into each other before picking themselves back up again and brushing off their shoulders. In a tight yet chaotic overload of electroacoustic techno, Magaletti and YPY bind IDM intricacy and wandering free jazz spirit to create something unfathomably new from familiar sounds.
