The shape-shifting producer Kevin Martin, aka The Bug, needs little introduction. His decades-spanning career includes acclaimed releases on legendary labels such as Hyperdub, Ninja Tune, and Rephlex. Dis Fig is the moniker of producer and vocalist Felicia Chen, known for her experimental noise onslaughts and emotional exorcisms behind the microphone. When the duo came together to work on music, it marked a stylistic experiment for both: The Bug leaned into slower, nosier productions, while Dis Fig offered a hushed and intimate performance brimming with hypnotic potential and mystery. In their collaborative album In Blue (2020), released on Hyperdub, Dis Fig's ethereal vocals come crashing in on a tsunami of delay and reverb onto the shores of The Bug's signature productions – where mutant dancehall and far-future grime meet swarming dub techno and infectious trip hop beats in an experience of bassy immersion. At Rewire, the duo bring what they call their "tunnel sound" to the festival – while, of course, offering a light at the end of it.
