Warm distortion, lo-fi echoes, and bittersweet melodies define Sun Kit’s sound. A brand new experimental band formed in Berlin in early 2023, they consist of musicians Jules Reidy – whose latest album Trances (2023) was a stand-out of last year – and Andreas Dzialocha – unearthing the electric bass’s low end harmonics on his solo album For Always LP (2020). Sun Kit’s spacious, reverberating songs are awash with washed-out hues, scattered lovingly around like sun-kissed, time-worn photographs. Their forthcoming debut album All the Patterns Inside (2024) concerns itself with time and space, bringing listeners down a winding path that navigates distance and closeness, breaking and reforming, and the embodied feeling of seasonal change. Placing a raw “rock-band” sound under an ethereal electronic veil, Sun Kit’s atmospheric music feels both creative and destructive: conjuring images through melody and tone before erasing them in a sweeping cloud of balmy noise and crushing delay.
