Sophie Mars is a performance artist, dance movement therapist and body researcher from Berlin. She is interested in immersive and sensory work exploring collective energy and idiosyncratic movement as new means of viewing and transforming space physically, spiritually and ontologically. Always interrogating the role of the body in today’s digital context, she uses virtual-, and augmented reality to explore physical and virtual interstices, creating uncanny, dreamlike worlds that are both familiar and utterly surreal. All of her current work and collaborations are linked to her project ‘Mindful practices for a future body - or how to reprogram ourselves’ in which she explores new ways of relating to our bodies and our environment. She has performed at HKW for Transmediale, Berlin; ICA, London and Mira Digital Arts Festival Barcelona. Mindful Mutations is a participatory healing movement piece open to all festival attendees and guided by Sophie Mars' avatar as designed by Livia Ribichini, to explore a state of transcendence, reconfiguration and possibility. Livia Ribichini is an Italian artist and founder member of the artist collective Fulminate.
