RAKTA & Mette Rasmussen

RAKTA are a genre-bending group of experimentalist musicians from the DIY scene of São Paulo who build proggy psychedelic expanses of sound; Mette Rasmussen is a Trondheim-based saxophone player who draws from a range of influences, including free jazz, improvisation, and textural soundwork. RAKTA – Carla Boregas (bass and electronics), Paula Rebellato (vocals and synths), and Maurício Takara (drums and electronics) – draw listeners into a captivating world of noise and melody and rhythm through their energetic and atmospheric live performances. Rasmussen moves beyond the often strict confines of genres and explores their contrasting elemental qualities. Her personal vision of the role of the saxophone turns it into a complete physical experience that moves between quiet beauty and uproarious energy. She is renowned for her boundary-pushing playing which truly stretches the capabilities of the instrument. Years one from their first performance together in São Paulo, these two colliding forces – RAKTA & Rasmussen – come together for a special performance on the Saturday of the festival.
