Celebrated American ambient musician Rafael Anton Irisarri and British cellist, electronic producer and composer Oliver Coates come together for a new environment-inspired collaboration. As an engineer Irisarri has worked with the likes of Julianna Barwick, Grouper, Telefon Tel Aviv, Ryuichi Sakamoto and Alva Noto. The Room40 mainstay’s most recent album, ‘Solastalgia’, is a musical evocation of mental distress caused by environmental change. Coates meanwhile has released on RVNG Intl and has recorded and performed with a wide range of artists, from Mica Levi and Laurel Halo to Terry Riley, Steve Reich and Actress. Together these two storied performers will explore a world endgame scenario through improvised longform compositions of saturated drones and electronics.
