Amos Ben-Tal/OFFprojects, Gosse de Kort & Salvador Breed

The Bone Algorithm

The Bone Algorithm is an interdisciplinary performance that takes place within a spatial music instrument. Three dancers navigate their way through a fluctuating landscape of wires and pendulums. Every change they make to the space affects the sound that the installation generates and every change in the sound affects the choreography, creating a fascinating interplay of cause and effect. The installation's metal wires scratch and glide, while magnetic coils convert the digital information into vibrations that resonate through 30 piano strings mounted into its frame. Searching for a sense of "organic intelligence," the work bridges the digital and the analogue, working through both programmed code and human intuition. After the performance, the public is invited to explore the instrument themselves.

OFFprojects is a The Hague–based collective of former NDT and Batsheva dancers gathered around the work of choreographer and musician Amos Ben-Tal. In recent years OFFprojects has collaborated with interdisciplinary artist Gosse de Kort (Interval, 2021) and sound artist Salvador Breed (PART, 2022).
