Oceanic feat. Tharim Cornelisse

Choral Feeling

Oceanic is the project of DJ and producer Job Oberman, releasing often with the Rotterdam label Nous'klaer Audio. In his sampledelic album Choral Feeling (2023), hypnotic vocal arrangements push the voice to its rhythmic and percussive extremes in a way that recalls both the playful maximalism of Jersey club and the cybernetic strangeness of video game music. Below the arpeggiated and pitch-shifted voices – sounding often xylophonic and raucous – silky clean synths and sharp drums propel each song forward with a smooth persistent pulse. His critically acclaimed debut album was put together using the voices of over 30 of his friends; this communal element is deeply apparent in the fun, cheeky, and wholesome qualities of the tracks. As much Laurie Anderson as it is Ron Hardy, Oceanic’s music – and his vivid approach to production – is always surprising. Join the chorus of moving feet on the dancefloor when Oceanic presents Choral Feeling in a live A/V show accompanied by illustrator, animator, and designer Tharim Cornelisse.
