Natural Wonder Beauty Concept is the collaborative project of musician Ana Roxanne – whose radiant songs lit up the stage at Rewire 2023 – and DJ and producer Brian Piñeyro, aka DJ Python. Having shared an online friendship prior, the two finally met in person upon Roxanne's move to New York in the winter of 2020. Against the backdrop of pandemic conditions and isolation, their friendship blossomed – as they found their feet, driving in the city's outskirts, listening to Björk and Portishead, they instinctively decided to enter the studio together to experiment. From this experimentation, Natural Wonder Beauty Concept emerged: a pensive project of ambient art-pop and mumblecore trip hop that allowed the duo to freely chase their influences down new auditory paths. Echoes of Piñeyro's club focus are heard in the album's incisive percussion, while Roxanne's R&B-inspired vocals shine and dissipate into scintillating ambient productions which summon a sense of warm, playful solitude.
