Lee Gamble

live a/v

Performing on Friday 3 April.

From roots in jungle and pirate radio, London-based DJ, composer, producer Lee Gamble has developed a practice that explores computer music through the lens of rave, culminating in a series of records for PAN and Hyperdub. Since 2015 he’s helmed his own label, UIQ, which has evolved into a platform for emergent and boundary-shattering electronic music. At Rewire 2020, Gamble will present the Dutch premier of his new audiovisual show based around his current triptych of records for Hyperdub. Coming together to form the album ‘Flush Real Pharynx’, the project sonically documents the aggressive onslaught of visual and sonic stimuli of contemporary cities and virtual spaces – or ‘the Semioblitz’, as coined by the late writer and cultural theorist Mark Fisher. ‘Flush Real Pharynx’ exposes us to a new type of digital theater, spatialised between non-musical sounds and the dance floor.
