To mark Rewire's 15th anniversary, the festival invites two artists that are dear to it to join forces for a back-to-back DJ set, closing out PAARD I on Friday: Kode9 and Deena Abdelwahed. Hyperdub label founder Kode9 is a living legend of underground dance and electronic music; starting out in the Tunisian alternative scene, producer, composer, and DJ Abdelwahed has made a name for herself with her hybrid DJ sets that blend club genres, and with her artistic practice which moves across music, dance, theatre, and cinema. As a DJ, producer, artist, and writer, Kode9's singular future-facing vision has forged a landscape of boundary-pushing sounds whose influence has reached far beyond its UK origins. He has released music on Aphex Twin’s Rephlex label, Soul Jazz, and Rinse and produced remixes for Mr. Fingers, Lee Scratch Perry, and MF Doom, among others. Abdelwahed uses her music to reflect on issues regarding identity and geography.
