John Glacier

John Glacier is an East London–based rapper, producer, and poet. Her debut EP, SHILOH: Lost For Words (2021), on label PLZ Make it Ruins, introduced her as an incomparable new talent of alternative hip hop, whose untethered songs trembled with poetic lyricism, worn texture, and experimental vibrancy. In early 2025, she releases her highly anticipated follow-up on label Young, the debut album Like A Ribbon (2025). The album’s first single, “Found,” is an emotive call, rich with bubbling bass drums and reverberating samples of glitched-out pianos and vocals. Its second single, “Ocean Steppin’,” is a smooth track of warm, ambient R&B production, driven by a muted two-step beat and shimmering synths. On it, Glacier’s soft, impermeable flow is met by angelic guest vocals from Sampha. Glacier has the nonchalant confidence of a masterful wordsmith: her style is difficult to pin down, but at its heart is a generous warmth, mixing her bold poetry and sense of humour into a singular approach as humble and gentle as it is stylish and fresh.
