Musician and experimental composer James Ferraro has been a prolific and shapeshifting figure since emerging in the 2000s as a member of the Californian noise duo The Skaters. Best known for his era-defining album, ‘Far Side Virtual’, released in 2011 by Hippos in Tanks as a precursor to the Internet-satirising vaporwave movement that followed, Ferraro has continued to plunder contemporary music and culture via a range of cassette and digital self-releases. At Rewire 2020 Ferraro will present a new audiovisual performance based on his latest great epic work, ‘Four Pieces of Mirai’, a philosophical allegory around the decline of civilization.
