HTRK

Performing on Saturday 4 April.

Bassist Sean Stewart and guitarist Nigel Yang formed HTRK (pronounced “HateRock”) in Melbourne in 2003. Together with vocalist Jonnine Standish the trio released two albums before the death of Stewart halfway through recording their third. It was finished by the band’s current members Yang and Standish and released in honour of their departed bandmate. A protegee of The Birthday Party’s Rowland S. Howard, HTRK’s washed out soundscapes are informed by the surrealism of David Lynch as well as Mika Vainio and Suicide. Their current album, ‘Venus in Leo’, explores the themes of power and intimacy in the social media age, which the band will perform at Rewire 2020.
