Creating a breakneck and hyperactive fusion of noise, punk, hardcore, and psychedelic rock, Tokyo-based band GEZAN – embodying a philosophy of what they call “radical fluidity” – have been evolving their mutant sound for over a decade while honing their energetic live shows with performances across the world. Their sound is impossible to pin down, but it is full of boisterous drums, infectious guitars, and shape-shifting vocals. GEZAN pave their own path while also drawing from the rich history of experimental band sounds in Japan, echoing the psych guitar flourishes of Les Rallizes Dénudés and the noise-rock chaos of Boredoms. From cinematic post-rock builds and noisy interludes to giddy alt-rock choruses and beautifully shambolic punk riffs, GEZAN carry a unique perspective and style, as their new album I KNOW HOW NOW (2026) so clearly shows.
