Concepción Huerta

Concepción Huerta is a Mexican, currently The Hague-based, multidisciplinary artist whose work in audiovisual media led her towards her current focus on different spectrums of sound. As an artist, she practises across sound design, installations, spatial concerts, and immersive experiences, with works that reflect upon the relation between silence and noise, politics, and sound bodies as forms of expression. Her music, including her new album, The Earth Has a Memory (2024), manipulates and warps recordings of everyday objects and electronic instruments to create a cacophony of noise and texture. With the auditory imaginaries that she conjures, she explores resonance, acoustic space, and the physical and psychological effects of sound. What emerges is a solemn, ambient, breathing, living convergence of tones and colours and sonic craters of unfathomable scale. Alongside her solo project, Concepción Huerta is also a member of the Huerta Ensemble with Daniela Huerta, and the experimental ensemble Amor Muere, who also perform at Rewire 2024.
