Carla dal Forno

Blackest Ever Black’s Australian rep Carla Dal Forno delivers candid lo-fi electro-pop sermons.

Carla dal Forno is an Australian singer, songwriter and multi-instrumentalist who made her atmospheric solo debut for Blackest Ever Black in October of last year. Formerly of Melbourne’s cult group Mole House, as well as Blackest Ever Black associates F ingers and Tarcar, Carla dal Forno’s solo endeavours are plain-spoken, vocal-driven affairs interspersed with melancholic instrumentals. While her approach finds kindred spirits in the realms of ambient music, the compositions on ‘You Know What It’s Like’ exude a dark, lo-fi electronic aesthetic that draws from vintage post-punk, ‘80s synth pop, psychedelic folk and elements of pulsating dub. The result, in the words of her label, calls to mind Eno’s ‘Another Green World’ reimagined in shades of brown and blue with an approving nod from Nico.

For her performance at Rewire she will be joined by Mark Smith of Rewire 2014 alumni Gardland, enriching her live performance with electronics.
