Brandon LaBelle (cancelled)

* Unfortunately Brandon LaBelle has had to cancel his participation at Rewire 2021 but we are looking into ways of presenting and exploring his work after the festival.

Artist, writer and theorist Brandon LaBelle lives in Berlin where he is the editor of Errant Bodies Press as well as holding a lecturing position at the University of Bergen's Department of Contemporary Art. His work is in the sonic and spatial arts, where he focuses on subjects such as poetic knowledge, voice and the mouth and the aesthetics and politics of invisibility. LaBelle will be hosting a keynote based around his current research on listening and sympathy and his most recent published work, this year's 'Acoustic Justice'. Drawing on his experience in sound and agency, the book investigates listening as an experience, exploring acoustics as the structures, designs and arrangements that facilitate sound and imagines ways in which we can disrupt this to listen more open-mindedly.
