Playing a back-to-back set for the first time ever, Rewire presents Batu b2b JASSS at PAARD I on Saturday night. Producer and DJ Omar McCutcheon’s work as Batu has spearheaded bassweight dance music for more than a decade, largely through his Timedance and A Long Strange Dream labels, and with appearances on respected labels such as Hessle Audio and Livity Sound; Silvia Jiménez Alvarez, aka JASSS, is a sound artist, producer, and DJ with releases on Ostgut Ton and Mannequin. She traverses genres with joyful abandon, foregrounding bass and percussion, and returns to the festival after the world premiere last year of AWOS (with Ben Kreukniet), which shares its name with her self-run label which released her last album. The duo's set is sure to blend Batu's distinctly UK take on hypermodern club music – blending dembow and techno with future-bass rhythms – with JASSS's vibey electronics and metal-tinged percussion.
