Helena Hauff

Dabbling ingritty techno, acid, post-punk and wave,Hamburg-born DJ and producer Helena Hauff delivers her dark electronic transmissions at Rewire 2017.

A long timeresident of Hamburg’s Golden Pudel Club, Helena Hauff has become one of the most revered DJ’s of her generation. The sonic aesthetic of her eclectic all-vinyl sets is rooted in a twilight-lit area of sharp acid sounds, cold Detroit rhythmics, monolith industrial scapes and even minimalist wave atmospherics. Though her sets may have been the talking point over the last few years, Helena Hauff’s productions more than match up to the live spectacle. In a relatively short period of time she’s put out releases rooted in punk and industrial attitude on notable labels like Actress’ Werk Discs, Ninja Tune, PAN and Blackest Ever Black. Following a similar approach to her heaving dancefloor sets, Helena Hauff avoids arranging her tracks, instead opting to record her dark and decadent electro jams straight onto an analogue setup consisting of little more than synths, drum machines and a reel to reel tape recorder.
